Weber Farms CSA Information
As a Shareholding Member of Weber Farm’s Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) family, you are an integral part of our farm operations. Our goals are to provide all of us with nutritious, healthful produce, delicious honey, eggs and sundries all free of chemical additives, herbicides, pesticides and fertilizers, and free of antibiotics and hormones.
In our CSA, members pay their fees prior to the growing season, in exchange for containers that are delivered or picked up from May through October.
*** See note at bottom for exceptions ***.

With the member dues, we purchase our seeds and supplies, and make necessary farm improvements in the off-season. During the growing season, our members receive weekly shares of the harvest. We plan to have more produce available than is required to fill our members’ containers. Please note that, should weather or pests destroy some of the crops, under CSA principles, both the farmer and the consumer agree to share in both the bounty and/or risk associated with growing crops using natural and organic practices.
We will do our very best to keep our containers full of various kinds of delicious produce from the gardens. We’ll also supply you with storage tips and recipes so you can make the most of those delicious crops!
Your commitment to us, is that you will arrive at scheduled delivery or pick-up points on time. This is vital both for the freshness of the vegetables, which are often harvested the day of delivery, and also for their nutritional content. Should you miss a pick-up, your share will be given to a local charity. However, if you give us at least a week’s notice before a missed delivery (for instance, due to scheduled vacation, etc.,), we can make alternate arrangements, such as having a friend or family member pick up your container at your designated drop-off location, or at the farm.
Please call 859.485.2833 or email us to leave a message.
2010 Season Specifics: Our 2010 CSA season will begin May 24 and end on October 14. We will provide containers of produce every week to each shareholder. We will designate delivery locations based on interest.
For instance:
there may be 3 member families in the Covington area, so we will make a delivery to a location in downtown Covington, to be distributed by one of the families in that area. We will designate other locations, as needed and there will be an additional charge for those families in the drop-off location. Cost per share is $500 for pick up or $520 for delivery areas. Payment is due no later than April 30, the cutoff date. Farm pick-up will be available on Friday evening or Saturday morning.
There will be add-on items for shares, such as “salad bar” eggs (eggs from Pastured Poultry), raw, unfiltered honey from hives free of chemical treatments, sundries made from the milk, honey, bees wax and herbs grown on the farm (along with specialty oils and butters), and other items as they are in season.
We will have 20 shares available for the 2010 growing season, and they will be sold on a first come, first served basis. Once they are gone, they are gone. This does NOT apply to the labor-shares – these shares are above and beyond the “paid” shares.
As a Shareholding Member at Weber Farms, the farm is yours to enjoy – feel free to call us and schedule visits. We have an open house to gather CSA Members and like-minded community folks for activities and a pot-luck meals, held in October every year. We’ll send you event schedules via email, post it online and include it in the email newsletter. You can keep up on what is happening here every day via the Farm Fodder Blog at weber-farms.com/blog. The Farm website is also the best source of information about our growing practices, delivery schedules and recipes from past containers.
*** NOTE: Some monthly payment plans, or labor-only shares will also be available. – We want to help those that may not have the financial means to pay for a share, but see the value in eating local, fresh foods, by allowing them to earn their shares and still get the same, wholesome foods available to those that have the financial capacity to purchase shares outright.
We will determine who will qualify for labor-only shares on an individual basis. Labor-shares will require 40 hours of labor for their share (spread out over the course of the growing season) and will start before the CSA startup time of May.
We will provide training for those that are earning their shares through labor.
Those that receive labor-shares will have the same privileges as any other shareholder, and all shareholder information will be kept strictly confidential.
