Out of the routine

Been a while since I’ve posted anything.
Between having my back against the wall with projects, and then the sudden change of 3 solid weeks off for vacation, I have no concept of schedule anymore.

I used to follow the same routine daily – now, with the farm stuff, work, vacation, and changing markets for selling product, I don’t know how to schedule anything. At least I’m still “regular” – of course, that has more to do with diet than anything else –

Now that I’nm back to work, I;m slowly getting back into the quasi-routine I had been following, so, now I am back to posting.

The bees are busy as.. well.. as bees. They are working the clover, oregano, comfrey and other flowers and putting up honey. Of course, it’s been raining off and on, and quite humid, so they’ve had to do some serious wing flapping to get the moisture content down to 16%, so the honey is not ready yet – they haven’t sealed it up or, as we say in the bee business, “capped it off” yet. Should get a fair harvest when they do though.

We have broilers and baby turkeys growing. Boy, do they grow fast. And eat! I’m feeding broilers 3 times a day in addition to all the grass and bugs they can eat!

Got on top of the mess I call an “orchard” while I was home on vacation. Next year I focus on getting a good crop from the fruit trees. We are most likely finishing up the blueberry picking this week. The strawberry beds have been gone through and we have runners to plant and start spreading out in the larger beds.

The asparagus is done and is going to seed – which will make for a larger bed of asparagus next year!

We will be planting fall crops this weekend and I have to finish clearing out the chicken yard so I can start a really big compost pile for them.

Well, I’ll write more during the week.
